Bailey Arboretum and Clark Botanic Garden, both of which are free, enjoy walking along the shady paths of Long Island Gardens, with donations from Clark Botanic Garden greatly appreciated. There are more than 1,000 species of trees, plants and animals in the park, and it includes some of the most beautiful trees and shrubs in New York, as well as many other species.

If you are not a resident of the town or village, you can head to Northport Village Dock and spend the day in the many restaurants just a short walk away, or pay to be one of those lucky ones on the boat. Head to the beautiful beaches of Long Island, picnic along the coast and sit by the water to watch spectacular sunsets.

When it's time for a break, visit Northport Farmers' Market, one of the largest farmers markets in upstate New York. It is open every Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm and offers a wide selection of products, fruits and vegetables, as well as local craftsmen, crafts and handicrafts.

The village of Northport is easily accessible by taking the deer to Main Street and then taking the Northern State Parkway to Exit 42N. Take Exit 42, then take Deer Trail to the beach and the Long Island Rail Road stops at the train station, which is about two miles from the village. To the north is a great place to hook up and take a dip, but you should stay at least 300 yards from the bluff to avoid the shoals that stretch east to Winkle Point. Once you turn into Northport Harbor, the Northports Yacht Club is located on the harbor and has guest moorings. To get from Long Island Sound to Huntington Bay, you need to turn east toward North Port Bay and eventually penetrate into the deep recesses of North Port Harbor to reach the city's port facilities.

This is the part of Long Island where you can sit on the beach and relax, or sit in the shade of a tree in front of the Northport Yacht Club or at a picnic table in Huntington Bay.

Residents and visitors can enjoy stunning sunsets and panoramic views of Connecticut from Hobart Beach, also known as Sand City. Long Island is home to some of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast, one leading to a quiet beach and the other to a wildlife sanctuary. You have a sheltered anchorage with plenty to do and a beautiful beach in Huntington Bay, as well as a number of other scenic locations.
